Kuwait City, 10 April 2017 – In partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, en.v is launching a nine-month project focusing on fostering the creation of networks amongst Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Kuwait. The purpose of the project is to enhance the impact of local advocacy and development initiatives by improving civil society’s visibility and legitimacy, and by mitigating the challenges of limited financial and human resources currently faced by local CSOs through increased collaboration.
The project will consist of two main phases. The first phase will focus on the development of thematic networks between CSOs working in similar and complementary areas, promoting increased coordination, knowledge-sharing and collaboration to achieve common goals more efficiently and effectively. The second phase will focus on fostering the development of a sector-wide network with mutually agreed upon standards for transparent and accountable operations, with the ultimate purpose of increasing public trust and understanding of CSOs and the role they have to play in the country’s development.
The first workshop organized as part of the project will be taking place on May 6-7, 2017, with the participation of trainers Karolina Mikova, Executive Director of PDCS, and Ninnar Al Qames, Community Service Manager at LOYAC Kuwait. It will be followed by a second workshop and a media awareness event to take place in mid-September. An online database of active CSOs in Kuwait will also be developed in an effort to raise visibility for and increase coordination within the sector.
