Our work with communities

We bring people together, we have important conversations, and we collaborate to make positive change happen.

Over 2000+ people have engaged in our community-building activities in the past seven years, which have included community meet-ups, festivals and summits.

“It’s really challenging for survivor leaders. [I’m] involved in many spaces. Because most of the time people see us as beneficiaries to start up an NGO, or start organizing as a survivor leader, it’s really challenging…I have been part of a lot of networks…but the attention that was given to me—I’m talking about myself personally from [the program]— I don’t find it in other networks.”

“During the community meet-ups with en.v, I felt a great relief and pleasure by the diversity of the group … The setting of the conversations always made it engaging with other peers, thus I was able to connect with a variety of amazing people. As an advocate on labor rights, I learned a lot from migrants and their experiences especially in a safe environment where they can share their stories with openness”

— Abdulrahman Al Turki, Community Meet-Ups participant

“It was an eye-opening experience: a bunch of artists and creatives and organization founders just getting together, designing and executing. Lastly, it allowed me to connect to an audience that ended up coming to the events that Art Scene hosts. I’m honored to be a part of AWAKEN and I owe it so much to what’s happened in my life in the past two years.”

— Areej Saleh, ArtScene Co-founder, AWAKEN Community of Practice

From December 4–6, 2025, at the American University of Kuwait, the Hearth Summit brought together over 200 changemakers from across civil society, education, business, the arts, philanthropy, and public institutions. Together, we explored the themes of ecological belonging, intergenerational healing, and art for connection — forging a shared vision for a more compassionate, resilient, and sustainable future.

At the intersection of all of our work lies the objective of promoting solidarity and compassion amongst diverse communities in Kuwait. This program focuses on exploring behavior change approaches that can support us in doing so.

AWAKEN: All Stories Matter

AWAKEN is a community-building program bringing together people from different backgrounds and perspectives in a safe space to connect, explore personal biases and build bridges, paving the way towards greater understanding, compassion and solidarity.

Driven by the conviction that as a society we are only as strong as the most vulnerable amongst us, BUILD supported the development and implementation of responsive and community-driven initiatives effectively improving the lives of vulnerable migrant workers in Kuwait.

The Women’s Circle Project

The Women’s Circle project is a research-informed initiative developed by en.v and Fulbright scholar Meg Reamy to address the relationship between female employers of domestic workers and female migrant domestic workers in Kuwait through facilitated community dialogue. Ultimately, the project aims to shift employer mindsets, leading to improved relationships and increased fair treatment of workers.

2008 - 2015 > Our first, and longest-lasting initiative, REUSE was our original attempt to address environmental sustainability through a multidisciplinary lens, with a strong emphasis on the arts, cross-sector collaboration and youth mobilization.
